ICO - Initial Coin Offering (initial coin offering) is a phenomenon quite close to the established IPO -InitialPublicOffering (initial public offering), but has two main differences:
- Project participants do not receive the right to own shares in the future company
- The project must be somehow related to blockchain.
STO or Security Token Offering is the process of selling security tokens - digital crypto analogues of shares or other tokenized assets. STO is a completely new phenomenon that was born during the evolution of ICO.
The concept is relatively new and an older IPO may look safer, but some of the benefits of an ICO are very attractive:
- Maintaining control: You are not sharing your company with an investor, you are selling him a future service. It makes a huge difference, you get paid but you still have control over your business.
- Globalization: While some companies go door to door to find an investor, with an ICO you can quickly raise funds from anyone in any country in the world.
- There are no rules. This means no bureaucracy that could take months. The success of a tech startup is a matter of being first to market. Otherwise, you will become yesterday's news and someone else will hit the jackpot.
