An ETF (Exchange Traded Fund) is an index fund whose shares are traded on an exchange. A Bitcoin ETF allows investors to invest in Bitcoin without purchasing or storing the cryptocurrency itself.

Recently, several companies have filed to create ETFs based on Bitcoin, including VanEck and Blackrock. However, the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has not yet approved any of them.
Interestingly, the SEC has delayed a decision on several Ethereum ETF applications. The decision affected the Hashdex, VanEck funds and the joint instrument of ARK Invest and 21Shares, as well as the futures ETF from Grayscale. The deadline is now set for May 2024.
