Franklin Templeton Investments, Inc.

Franklin Templeton Investments, Inc. is an American asset management company founded in 1947 under the name Franklin Distributors, Inc. in New York. In 1973, the company's headquarters were moved to San Mateo, California. Franklin Templeton acquired its current name following the acquisition of Templeton, Galbraith & Hansberger Ltd, a group of investment funds. in 1992.

The company offers asset management services to institutional clients through its subsidiary Franklin Advisers, Inc., managing more than $500 billion in assets.

Gregory Johnson has been Chairman of the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Franklin Templeton since June 2013 and January 2014, respectively. In December 1999, he also served as the company's president until September 2015.

Franklin Templeton's largest shareholders as of September 30, 2016 included Massachusetts Financial Services Co., The Vanguard Group, Inc., Highfields Capital Management LP and others. In 2015, Franklin Templeton managers participated in negotiations with the Ukrainian government to restructure Ukraine's sovereign bonds totaling approximately US$7 billion.

Franklin Templeton has a number of subsidiaries, including Franklin Advisers, Inc., Franklin Resources, Inc., Franklin Templeton Investor Services LLC and others.
